Athens. The emigrants in Greece will reach 3 million by 2015, Greek newspaper Ta Nea reads today citing a UN report. According to the report Greece’s population will be 14 million people by 2015 as the foreign citizens will make up 3 million. The report also notes that by 2025 there will be some 100 million emigrants in EU member-states. Only thus will the bloc be able to preserve its stable work force. According to experts Greece will need emigrants in order to solve its demographic problems. The UN reports reads that Greece, Switzerland, Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic are the five European countries which will benefit from the emigrant wave as the population growth in these states is negative. According to the National Statistical Service the emigrants who work and live in Greece are about 1 million. They pay 11% of the installments in the indemnity funds. Greece, the newspaper notes, also needs emigrants for its economy to grow. http://www.focus-fen.net/index.php?c...sid=91580&ch=0

No disrespect to the immigrants in the slightest, but this is a very unstable move and the social concerns it raises are severe, at best. Compound this with these decent immigrants will be alienated from the native populations. Further compound it from the not so decent locls and not so decent immigrants, and we have a big nasty pot brewing. Not unlike the stife that has decayed the beautiful and once mighty USA. Let people be people and lets not poach other countries. How irresponsible.

| As a child of immigrants I'm torn on this. Canada gave my parents and their friends opportunities. But Greeks overwhelmingly went to these countries legally and with good intentions. Unrestricted immigration is a disaster as the criminals and scofflaws push aside the honorable and the hard working so that they can establish whatever opportunistic travesty they can get away with. I've seen it here; I heard about it when I was in Greece. Welcome immigrants...the legal ones.

Greece has 5+ million immigrants and albanians are 2 million for sure.

Are you certain. Five million already? No disrespect intended for all the decent people going to Greece, but immigration in such large numbers to any Euro country is not a smart step. It is not worth the gains. The costs are too high socially.
