Canada Punishes Greek for Greek Flag on Garage Door

what a rediculous proposition of our "FREE" country. I guess its ok to raise separatist flags but not "paint" the Greek flag on his home that he owns????

A Canadian of Greek descent has been ordered to remove a Greek flag painted on his garage door.

Montreal Municipal Judge Andre Hotte ruled in favor of the borough of Pierrefonds, which has an ordinance banning the painting of signs on buildings, The Montreal Gazette reported. Theodore Antonopoulos said he plans to appeal.

"People cannot paint whatever they want on their homes," Hotte said as he delivered his ruling. "What about the aesthetic aspect? What if everyone painted their sports team, their country's flag, even Mickey Mouse on their home? If everyone expresses their patriotism, that is visual pollution and not harmonious with the neighborhood."

Antonopoulos' parents emigrated from Greece to Canada.

A spokesman for the borough said Antonopoulos will get a reasonable time to remove the offending flag.

sad stuff... why dont they use our tax dollars to better use ie help students like myself instead of chasing down honest citizens.

Thats why Canadians pay $20000 for medical school and Australians pay $4000 CDN dollars...

This is one of the most ridiculous waste of taxpayers money. If it were the fluer then it wouln't be a distraction. Maybe our Greek buddy should paint the other Greek flag that looks like the Quebec flag and see what happens. In fact he should.

That's Canada. French have a sense of entitlement here and the government's walk on eggshells around them. I can't say I totally disrespect them though, but this is whack. Like I said, the dude should just paint the other Greek flag that looks very similar to the Quebec flag and see what they do. Then if they freak, change it to the Quebedc flag. What a ruckus that would cause. I hope he does it.
