I'm glad katharevousa is gone. It was an articifical imitation of Archaic Greek, it cant possibly be our true language. Demotic Greek is the natural descendent of Koine Greek.

How do we learn Demotike Akritas? We are in the Anglo-Saxon world. Great place, but a huge lack of culture and manners. However, so very good in other ways.

Nice question.For the beginning start
and read books. Not dificult books.

In the below blog you can download some Greek books.

e-vivlia.blogspot.com

But is very difficult to learn a language if you are not a every-day speaker and the most important if your linguistics bases are ..."drumsticks" .

Great example is me and my English skills.

A graduate of the university of Montpellier in 1788, Korais spent most of his life as an expatriate in Paris.

You are right my friend. Good idea. Time is a factor, but it is doeable. Excellent lead.
