Hungary lost to Greece 1-2 in Budapest on Wednesday in the qualifying round for EURO 2008, ending first in Group A. The victory now allows Greece to enter the last phase of the Euro Cup, due to be staged in Austria and Switzerland in the summer. Hungary started the game with an energetic attack and took the lead in the seventh minute. Akos Buzsaky brought the ball up from midfield on the right side and his kick from just inside the penalty area bounced off two Greek players into the goal, leaving Greece goalkeeper Costas Chalkias out of position to defend the shot.
Greece drew even in the 22nd when Hungary defender Vilmos Vanczak headed the ball into his own goal while trying to clear a pass. Angelos Basinas converted a second-half penalty kick to lead Greece to the victory.
